In the latest edition of the Times of Indian, journalist Rajesh Bose breaks down the top 5 fruits for Indian consumers.
The fruits we eat are not necessarily those that we can find on the shelves of the supermarket, Bose points out.
“The most popular fruit in India is not the mango, the papaya, or the pineapple.
Rather, these are fruits that are sold by local grocers.
These fruits are not as big as the fruit that is in our supermarkets.
So, they have a more local flavor.
These are fruits like the papayas, for example.
So they are a good alternative,” he says.
In the past few years, the government has launched a campaign against fake fruits, which has resulted in many restaurants, markets, and even supermarkets selling fake fruit.
A large portion of the profits generated by these shops, and the sales they bring to local farmers, go directly to the government.
“The fruit that we buy has been adulterated and so there are huge amounts of profit for the government,” Bose says.
He says that the government’s anti-fraud campaign has resulted the loss of nearly Rs 1 lakh crore for the country’s farmers.
While the government is making efforts to combat these issues, some consumers are taking the fruits to a new level.
The latest edition, “What Is the Best Fruit for Indian Consumer?”, published by Times of Canada, lists three fruit preparations that make it to the top 10 list.
One of them is the mango.
Another is the tomato.
The third is the pea, which is one of the most popular fruits in India.
These fruits are often served with a tomato sauce.
Bose’s research showed that the peas have a taste similar to that of the sauce.
It was also found that the tomato sauce contains a large amount of sugar.
This was the reason behind the popularity of the tomato paste in Indian restaurants.
But why do the peasees taste so good?
A study conducted by the University of Toronto’s department of food science and the Centre for Food and Nutrition Policy found that pea paste contains more protein, less fat, and a much higher antioxidant.
Bosing says that these factors help the peases to improve taste and absorb nutrients.
Another research team has found that while pea is an important food for many people, the peaches used in the paste are not that good.
They contain low amounts of calcium, magnesium, and vitamins A and C. These nutrients are essential for the health of the skin.
A study done by researchers from the National Centre for the Study of Nutritional Epidemiology at Jawaharlal Nehru University found that, “Most consumers who do not know the nutritional value of their fruits or vegetables do not eat fruits or veg,” and they do not get the nutritional benefits of fruits or veggies.
